Day 3

Generosity

God’s math is very different from ours. It’s 180 degrees opposite of what we naturally do. The world says, “If I have little to give, I should hold on to it… and wait until I can give more.” But God’s “upside down” economy says to “Give out of our need!”  When we learn that God can take the little that we have, and create more than enough in our lives, we will look at generosity differently.

Do you have a need? Regardless of what your needs are, be generous with what you have, and watch God multiply that resource. God’s Promise is evident in Luke 6:38.

38 Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”

In this verse, we see that a little bit of “something” given out of our modest “nothing,” becomes everything in God’s hands. When we experience challenges in the marketplace, either when searching for a job or when employed, it is easy to lose sight of the importance of Generosity. However, despite what may be missing in our own lives, there is still an opportunity for us to be generous in the lives of others. Are you putting what you do have in the hands of God? Whether it’s our time, service, or resources, we all have the opportunity to be generous.

Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

2 Corinthians 9:7–8
