Kemmons “Kem” Wilson III joins us September 9 for the Work + Faith Online Speaker Series. A Family Business
Kem Wilson joined Kemmons Wilson Companies (KWC) in 2005. He is a principal of the firm focusing primarily on private equity initiatives and hospitality-related opportunities. For many years at KWC, Kem’s primary focus was on the marketable securities portfolios for Wilson family members and various Wilson-related corporate/charitable entities. As a partner in the management of the KWHP Fund, Kem applies his 15+ years of investment experience.
Kem proudly carries on his family’s legacy of innovation and marketplace disruption. In 1951 after a family vacation, his grandfather Kemmons came home determined to build a hotel brand where people would be treated like family with friendly, caring service in a comfortable, clean and welcoming environment. One year later, Holiday Inn was born.
Risk Taker
Married and a father of four, Kem keeps active and enjoys all things outdoors. His friends and family might call him an adrenaline junkie. He has participated in a range of extreme activities from skydiving to backcountry skiing to running with the bulls in Pamplona.
Kem’s education includes a BA in Business Administration from Furman University, an MMH (Master of Management in Hospitality) from Cornell University, and an MBA from Cornell University’s Johnson Graduate School of Management.
